Abstract
In the Philippines, there is still inadequate emphasis on English as a foreign language. Teachers are under pressure from society to guarantee that pupils have a strong command of English in this century, when information and communication are essential for studying, working, and—most importantly—since we are social creatures. Specifically, the aim of this study is to propose online activities in enhancing socio-emotional learning skills in English Proficiency. A descriptive research design was utilized in this study. The data gathered from quantitative data analysis were presented in tabular form for interpretation of the results: frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean and standard deviation were used. While the data collected from qualitative data from the interview were transcribed, coded, and processed to identify common themes or areas of concern through thematic analysis. The results indicate that English teachers are proficient when it comes to teaching pedagogies during online classes. Moreover, it was discovered that there are social and emotional factors affecting students’ SEL and issues and challenges encountered by students and teachers in English Proficiency. In line with that, teachers recommend online pedagogies which they think will develop students' SEL in English Language classes. The researcher proposed online activities based on the issues and challenges encountered by the students with the guide of applications to be used, objectives of the activities and mechanics to be followed which will develop the socio-emotional learning of the student in online classes.
