Abstract
This study investigates the impact of awareness of the Data Privacy Act on the Related Learning Experience (RLE) of Bachelor of Science in nursing students at the University of Batangas. With the enactment of the Data Privacy Act (Republic Act No. 10173) in 2012, which safeguards personal information and ensures its confidentiality, nursing students are increasingly required to navigate the complexities of data privacy within their clinical and educational settings. This research aims to assess how well nursing students understand these regulations and how this awareness influences their learning experience, particularly in handling patient data. The study employs a quantitative approach, utilizing random assessments to measure the students' level of awareness regarding the Data Privacy Act and its implications for their RLE. Findings indicate that a higher level of awareness is associated with enhanced professionalism and ethical considerations in managing patient information. The study highlights the critical role of data privacy knowledge in shaping nursing students' attitudes and practices, contributing to a culture of responsibility and confidentiality. Results from this research underscore the importance of integrating data privacy education into nursing curricula to improve students' preparedness for real-world clinical settings. By providing insights into the effects of data privacy regulations on nursing education, the study offers recommendations for refining educational strategies and practices to better align with legal requirements and professional standards. The findings aim to inform educators and policymakers on how to effectively prepare nursing students for the challenges of modern healthcare while upholding the principles of data privacy and confidentiality.
