Abstract
Recognizing the universal significance of mental health is imperative for individual well-being, community resilience, and the establishment of a global society valuing holistic researchers investigate the effects of a 2-3-day mental health break granted by the University of Batangas to BSN 4 students. The demanding nature of the BSN program often leads to burnout and mental health issues, making it essential to investigate the effects of dedicated breaks on students' mental health. The researchers utilized a non-experimental research design, using a simple random sampling method to survey 40 fourth-year nursing students from the College of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Batangas. Data collection was conducted through Google Forms, featuring two sets of questionnaires-the first set was answerable by yes or no responses, and the second set utilized a rating scale from strongly disagree to agree strongly and without difficulty to unable to do. Preliminary findings suggest that mental health breaks are crucial for stress recovery, enhancing performance, and reducing the risk of burnout-related issues. However, challenges such as incomplete tasks during the break period may affect the overall effectiveness of these interventions. Prioritizing mental health in nursing education is vital for fostering a resilient and thriving healthcare workforce. Additionally, the study reveals that students have trouble achieving an improved mood and emotional well-being after the mental health break. This study contributes valuable insights into the effects of mental health breaks on BS students, shedding light on the importance of optimizing such breaks to maximize their positive impact on mental well-being. The findings underscore the need for tailored strategies to ensure the comprehensive utilization of mental health breaks in academic settings, promoting a culture of self-care and resilience among nursing students.
