Abstract
Active learning strategies are dynamic tools employed in nursing education to foster student engagement with course content and real-life clinical scenarios, facilitating the development of critical clinical reasoning skills crucial for proficient nursing practice. This correlational study investigates the relationship between students' profiles and their utilization of active learning strategies among 77 nursing students at the University of Batangas. Using a combination of simple random sampling and convenience sampling methods, respondents from the third and fourth year levels are surveyed using a self- structured questionnaire validated by professionals. Statistical analysis, employing the Mann-Whitney U test, reveals a significant correlation between respondents' profiles and their engagement with active learning strategies. The majority of respondents are female, aged between 21 to 24 years old, and primarily in the third year level. Most active learning strategies, including case studies, clinical simulations, and concept mappings, are positively perceived by nursing students. These findings underscore the importance of integrating active learning strategies into nursing education to enhance clinical reasoning skills and promote student success. An action plan is proposed to further develop students' clinical reasoning abilities through continued implementation of active learning strategies. This study contributes to the literature on active learning in nursing education, emphasizing the need to tailor educational approaches to meet the diverse needs of nursing students.
