Abstract
Effective leadership is crucial in healthcare settings, particularly for staff nurses who play a significant role in patient care. This study explored the characteristics of servant leadership among staff nurses in selected healthcare institutions in Batangas. Using a descriptive correlational research design, the study examined how demographic profile such as age, sex, and years of experience relate to servant leadership traits—listening, accountability, empathy, and stewardship. The study involved 44 staff nurses from four healthcare institutions, with data collected through a structured questionnaire validated by professionals. Findings revealed no significant correlation between gender or age and servant leadership qualities. However, years of experience were positively associated with empathy, suggesting that more experienced nurses may exhibit greater empathetic leadership. An action plan was proposed to enhance servant leadership skills, including distribution of pamphlets to various selected hospital institutions in Batangas, targeting healthcare professionals such as staff nurses.
