Abstract
This study investigates the role of community health nurses and midwives in promoting reproductive health among adolescents in rural health units in Batangas Province. The primary objective is to assess the relationship between the nurses' demographic profiles and their professional roles, which include educator, care provider, manager, client advocate, and leader. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, utilizing a survey questionnaire distributed to 45 community health nurses and midwives. Statistical methods such as percentage, weighted mean, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The results indicate that the majority of respondents were aged 31-40, predominantly female, with 6-15 years of service. They actively engaged in reproductive health education, providing significant contributions as educators and advocates. However, no significant relationship was found between the respondents' demographic profiles (age, gender, educational attainment, and length of service) and their roles in promoting reproductive health among adolescents. The study concludes that community health nurses and midwives are vital in addressing adolescent reproductive health issues, but their effectiveness is not directly influenced by their demographic characteristics. An action plan was developed to enhance the reproductive health knowledge of adolescents through targeted seminars and training for healthcare providers. Future recommendations include strengthening health education and improving adolescent-friendly healthcare services.
