Abstract
Child nutrition in early childhood is crucial for growth, development, and long-term health. This study assessed maternal child feeding practices and their impact on the nutritional status of children aged 24–59 months in high-risk barangays in Batangas City. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, 105 mothers were surveyed from Barangays Poblacion 5, Wawa, and Alangilan, identified for high malnutrition rates. Results showed that while most mothers followed recommended feeding guidelines, practices varied; complementary feeding was significantly related to the child’s sex (U = 979.00, p = 0.02). Strengthening maternal knowledge through targeted nutrition education is essential to improve feeding practices and reduce childhood malnutrition.
