| Communication skills is one of the central part of nurses' and student nurses' competencies since they will relay and interpret information between physicians, caregivers, family members, and patients and thus It is highly critical to raise communicative skills to avoid error and misunderstanding. Communication is about understanding the mentality, emotions and behavioral intentions and level of the student behind any interactions and integrating knowledge and competencies with the right attitude to flawlessly execute a given task. Non-experimental descriptive research assessed (124) second, third- and fourth-year students in regards with the level of communication skills that the students used when in a remote learning environment. The researchers utilized simple random sampling in selecting the study respondents. The results of the study had shown that second year nursing students are more inclined in using emotional communication while the third-year nursing students are more prone to use mental communication skills. The findings revealed that behavioral communication skills are the most utilized by the nursing students of University of Batangas. Furthermore, the study concluded that there is no significant relationship between age and year level as to mental and emotional communication skills of nursing students. The researchers would like to propose an action plan to provide students with detailed plan to be undertaken in order to improve the nursing student’s level of communication skills in terms of mental and emotional communication in a remote learning environment. |
