| Remote learning is a real problem due to poor catering of resources and poor academic adjustment of the students. Thus, their performance does not meet the current demand for education. The challenges and coping strategies are part of being a college student. The only difference today is that students are moving to a new normal set up of education and continuing to deal with the remote teaching digital tools (LMS, Google Meet, Zoom, etc.) because of the exacerbation of the COVID-19 pandemic. This quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive research design assessed the freshmen nursing students at the University of Batangas in terms of their challenges and coping strategies. Moreover, the researchers
utilized simple random sampling and convenient sampling in data gathering, and the Likert Scale was used to assess the level of agreement of the respondents. As a result, the study found agreement between the two variables of the study and garnered a positive correlation
that is significant at 5 percent. Furthermore, the findings revealed that encountering overloaded lesson activities was their challenge, and doing something to take their mind off the situation, such as watching TV, movies, shopping, or listening to music, was their coping strategy. In addition, the researchers would like to propose an action plan which would disseminate adaptive coping strategies to freshmen students for institution’s consideration. |
