Abstract
The World Health Organization Surgical Safety Checklist (WHO SSC) is a global tool that enhances surgical safety and prevents errors through standardized perioperative procedures. This study assessed the level of knowledge of third-year nursing students at the University of Batangas and its relationship with their demographic profile across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. Using a quantitative, descriptive-correlational design, data from 80 students were analyzed using frequency, percentage, weighted mean, Mann-Whitney U test, and Chi-square. Results showed that students were very knowledgeable, with the highest mean in the preoperative phase (M = 3.52) and lowest in the intraoperative phase (M = 3.50). Significant differences were found based on sex, clinical experience, and training participation, while age and familiarity were not significant. To strengthen early awareness, an online seminar for second-year students was proposed to enhance understanding of surgical safety practices.
