Abstract
Digital platforms such as Panopto, loom, google meet and zoom are readily available online and have useful functions such as play, forward, pause, rewind, and rewatch setting, providing students with the convenience of watching the lectures at their own pace. However, the rapid pace of technological innovation can potentially reduce student engagement. This nonexperimental and descriptive research assessed the 158 students from first year level to fourth year nursing students at the University of Batangas to determine the effectiveness of the utilization of recorded video lecture on nursing student's engagement and learning. The researcher utilized simple random sampling and self-structured and online survey questionnaire via Google forms. The result of the study had shown that the type of software that the nursing student frequently used to watch recorded video lecture is Google Meet. Moreover, most of the respondents perceived that their level of engagement is being developed in enhancing ideas and the student level of learning is being developed at high extent through the accessibility of the video lectures. Furthermore, the findings revealed the recorded video lecture has a highly positive significant correlation with student engagement and learning. Lastly, in line with the result of the study the researchers would like to propose an action plan to effectively utilize the recorded video lectures to improve nursing student learning.
