Abstract
Community health nursing (CHN) is an essential component of nursing education that prepares students to work with diverse populations, providing health promotion and disease prevention interventions. Universities and colleges used a performance evaluation tool to ensure CH students possessed the necessary competencies. However, the effectiveness of such tools had yet to be thoroughly evaluated, especially from the perspective of nursing students. This study aimed to evaluate the CHNI performance evaluation tool from the perspective of sophomore nursing students. The study aimed to identify the demographic profile of the respondents, evaluate the competencies exhibited in the tool, determine if there was a significant relationship between the respondents' profile and perspective on the tool, and propose an action plan to enhance the tool. The researchers used a methodological research design and a simple random sampling method, with 90 sophomore nursing students as participants. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire consisting of two parts: the demographic profile of the respondents and the level of competencies exhibited in the tool. The study's results were analyzed using statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, and regression analysis. The study was not significant because it did not seek any improvement in the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of nursing education by evaluating the CHNIperformance evaluation tool from the perspective of nursing students. The study's results provided valuable information showing that the evaluation tool was effective and didn't need further enhancement or improvement. Furthermore, the study helped guide the development of a curriculum map that matched desired competencies with the content of programs. This ensured that nursing students possessed the competencies to provide quality care to diverse populations. The study aimed to evaluate the CHN I performance evaluation tool from the perspective of sophomore nursing students. The study provided information on students applying the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of nursing education; this study contributed to developing competent nursing professionals.
