Abstract
Chronic illnesses represent an enormous burden on people. Diabetes Mellitus is one of the most prevalent diseases and it implies variations in life habits especially in physical activity, level of anxiety, and lifestyle. Among the devastating implications of diabetes mellitus, hypertension plays an imminent role in leading to a more progressive and deteriorating quality of life among people. This research study is based on knowledge on hypertension and its related factors among patients with type 2 diabetes. The purpose of this non-experimental, descriptive correlational research study is to determine if the respondents from the selected Barangays in Batangas City have knowledge about hypertension and its associated factors among type 2 Diabetes. The researchers utilized a standardized questionnaires as the main instrument in data gathering with the questions answerable by yes or no to determine the level of knowledge and awareness about different related factors associated with hypertension and type 2 diabetes among respondents. The researchers used in the statistical techniques was Fisher's Exact Test. After analyzing the results, it was evaluated that there is no significant correlation between knowledge on hypertension and its related factors among patients with type 2 diabetes. Therefore, most patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes have adequate knowledge regarding hypertension but revealed that these people have insufficient awareness as to lifestyle due to limited resources.
